Sanmohini Pellerini and Dave Roberts from SID LEE, Canada delivered a brief for a project for Cirque Du Soleil. We where assigned 24 hours to come up with a solution on how to announce the launch of a permanent Cirque du Soleil show in China.

Our solution
Cirque Du Soleil is all about multicultural, dynamic, adrenaline pumping performances filled with music and light. They shows are quite often inspired by the asian acrobatic arts and in this we saw a major problem. The asian feel maybe exotic in the US and in Europe, however if we try to launch Cirque Du Soleil in China pushing the exotic asian feel we were sure to fail.

China has a strong connection to its historical heritage and the chinese people have a tradition of storytelling through for example the Beijing opera. With this in mind we decide to put focus on the european history, creating a campaign based on figures throughout the european historical and social evolution presenting the ancient Rome, the gypsies in Bulgaria, the French haute couture and so on.

The campaign will have its center in the target audience mobile phones. We are sending out MMS messages inviting selected people to attend promotional shows. We also create a mobile web portal where we convey the feeling of Cirque Du Soleil as well as educate the audience about its origin through images and video.

Justin Kramm and Rikesh Lal from Publicis & Hal Riney, San Francisco, delivered a brief asking us to create and promote a product that brings awareness to a worthy cause. We were given 10 hours to find the cause, develop our idea, visualize it and prepare a presentation.

The worthy cause
The primary human source of pollutant carbon dioxide (CO2) discharge in the atmosphere is from the burning of fossil fuels for energy production and transport. As a result, the global temperature is increasing, throwing the world’s climate out of balance.

Introducing Carma points
We want to give the individual the option to compensate for it’s own pollution, just like companies. Emissions trading is a method used to control pollution by letting companies or other groups pay to compensate their emissions of pollutants. We want to put this concept in the hands of the individuals and make them conscious of their part in the global environment. We do this by offering them the possibility to buy Carma Points. Carma Points is a easy way to communicate the amount of CO2 emissions your car puts out for each combusted liter.

We are planning to communicate the Carma points at a place where the consumer are a contributing to the pollution themselves. We therefor choose the gas-station since there’s a clear connection between the costumer’s car, gas and how it affects the environment.

The money generated from the Carma points would be used to invest in more emission allowances. By doing this the result would be fewer allowances available globally. By buying Carma Points you as an individual therefor are not only paying for your own pollution, you're also making it more expensive for big polluters to pollute.

Visualization
To communicate our message to the consumer we are planning to use touch screens by the gas-pump. Buy using a video screen we can easily display the need information at the place where it will have the greatest impact.
