Karlskrona Kommun contacted me and and a couple of friends, aka. Duke, to help them in marketing the city of Karlskrona in correspondence with the hosting of one of the Eurovision Song Contest events (the biggest broadcast musical occurrence in Sweden).
The client wanted to use existing channels of communication through the web and not simply establish a new promotional website.
In response to the client’s request we developed a marketing strategy based on social networking.
By the combined use of the Facebook platform, Blip.tv and Flickr’s open API’s we created an online application which allowed users to compete andwin prizes by submitting their own version of a popular song (in the form of a photograph or a video) by uploading them via their computers or their mobile phones. Six competitions were scheduled over a period or 12 weeks.
